TIF in Need of Toys & Teams to Do Good Stuff
In celebration of National Foster Care Month, the Toy Industry
Foundation (TIF) will hold its second annual Do Good
Stuff-a-Thon, an industry-wide volunteer effort, on May 7th in
Southern California. Companies that cannot attend are encouraged
to join in on the action by donating
toys, or forming a corporate team for the Virtual
Do Good Stuff-a-Thon – an online fundraising effort to help
support TIF’s grant commitment of $400,000 to the My Stuff Bags
Foundation. My Stuff
Bags provides duffel bags full of necessities to foster children
rescued from their homes with nothing more than a few items in a garbage
bag, if anything at all.
“There are so many ways that companies can join us in making a
difference in the lives of foster children,” says Marisa Medina,
TIF Coordinator. “Forming a team for our Virtual Do Good
Stuff-a-Thon is such an easy way to help. You don’t even
have to leave your desk!”
To start a team for the virtual effort (the deadline for registering
has been extended to April 29th), companies simply submit a company
logo, and TIF will set up a personalized Virtual Do Good Stuff-a-Thon
website that team members can visit to sponsor individual items that go
into each My Stuff Bag. Participants can make a difference by
contributing as little as $10, and all donations are tax
deductible. Funds raised will help provide toys, toiletries,
blankets, clothing, and other items to children rescued from abusive
homes and entering crisis housing with no belongings of their own.
Details are available in the Virtual Do Good Stuff-a-Thon Corporate Team Captain Guide.
