PlayCon 2011 Delivers Content-Rich Sessions, Progressive Ideas

May 6, 2011 | Toy industry leaders, experts and visionaries from across the country gathered in Scottsdale, Arizona last week to attend PlayCon’s stimulating seminars and networking events, held from May 4-6 at the Hyatt Regency Resort and Spa at Gainey Ranch.

Visit ToyFairNYblog for an in-depth look at the various seminars that took place over the course of the two-day event.
Demonstrating the appeal of the event for both informative content AND networking, nearly one-third of this year’s PlayCon participants were attending for the very first time.

“As the Toy Industry Association’s (TIA) International Conference of Play Professionals, PlayCon was truly an A-list gathering of the most influential leaders in the play and toy industries,” said Kimberly Carcone, TIA director of trade show and event marketing.  “The content-rich sessions were filled to capacity and some of the workshops were standing room only. From the start of the conference right until the last day, the seats were filled with everyone focused on the information being presented.”

The faculty of speakers exchanged ideas on the definition of “play;” encouraged innovation and improvisation in corporate culture; explored toy manufacturing abroad; shared important information on how to successfully leverage social media to promote brand awareness; and much more.

“PlayCon is the first step towards addressing the changing face of the business of play,” said Bryan Stockton, chair of the TIA Board of Directors.  “We looked at how the toy industry and the professionals who make play happen stay abreast of the pace of change.”

PlayCon 2012 will take place May 15-17, 2012 at the Gaylord National Hotel and Conference Center On the Potomac in Maryland. The conference will be held for the first time in conjunction with TIA’s annual DC Fly-In, an event for toy industry stakeholders from all over the nation to meet with members of congress to discuss the industry’s unique needs and concerns. Information on these TIA events will be made available on the TIA website in the coming months
