“12 Days of TOTY” Social Media Campaign Kicks Off
Dec. 7th
December 6, 2011 | At just two weeks into voting for
the 12th Annual Toy of the Year (TOTY) Awards, the Toy Industry
Association (TIA) has already received more than 12,300 votes from
3,000+ unique voters on the ToyAwards.org consumer voting website.
To keep the momentum going through the holiday shopping season, the
TIA Public Relations team is launching a social media campaign on
December 7th.
“Twelve Days of TOTY” will kick off with a reminder of
key shopping and safety tips. Each day thereafter, the Toy Industry Association Facebook
page and @ToyIndustryAssn on Twitter will feature a
single TOTY product category.
In addition, TIA is introducing a brand-new contest to encourage
blogger participation in TOTY promotions. For each post that is written
about TOTY and sent to TIA, bloggers will receive an entry into a raffle
for a chance to win a ticket to the exclusive Toy of the Year Awards
ceremony in February, a $375 value for the event ticket (note: neither
travel nor accommodations will be provided).
Toy industry stakeholders are encouraged to check TIA’s
Facebook and Twitter updates daily and to share the information across
all social media platforms, as well as to encourage any blogger contacts
to participate in the contest (company blogs are not eligible.) All
relevant bog postings should be sent to jretzer@toyassociation.org.
For information about the “Twelve Days of TOTY” social
media campaign, please contact TIA senior manager of public
relations, Adrienne
Appell. The official hashtag for the TOTY Awards is #TOTY12.
TOTY voting is open now at ToyAwards.org through January 15, 2012; winners
across 11 product categories, as well as the overall “Toy of the
Year,” will be announced at a celebration at the iconic Lincoln
Center in New York City on February 11, 2012.
