Haven Academy in the Bronx
The Toy Industry Foundation (TIF) will return to Haven Academy
Charter School in the Bronx Thursday, September 13, 2012 to distribute
“My Stuff duffels” to more than 50 children in the foster
care and welfare systems. Kindergartners at Haven Academy will start the
year off right with duffel bags filled with school supplies and toys to
spark creativity in the young learners, as well as other necessities
including blankets and toiletries.
In New York City alone, there are 16,000 children who are living in
foster care. They are among the 400,000 kids rescued from abuse or
neglect that are in the foster care system across the U.S.
