TIF Collects Record-Breaking Number of Toys at Fall Toy Preview

October 11, 2012 | The Toy Industry Foundation (TIF) collected a record-breaking number of toys and games from exhibitors at the close of Fall Toy Preview 2012, held October 2-4 in Dallas, TX.

Nearly 115 companies donated 18,419 toys worth more than $160,000, representing a 200% increase in toys and a 121% increase in value over last year’s show. Additionally, 95% more exhibitors participated in the annual collection this year.

“Thanks to the generosity of the toy industry, TIF had its biggest Dallas collection to date – we received more toys and participation than any other year at Fall Toy Preview!” said Melissa Sorvillo, TIF coordinator. “We will now have an even greater impact in the lives of children in need, who will receive everything from toy kitchens, board games, dolls and plush to basketballs, instruments, scooters and craft kits.”

Between now and the upcoming holiday season, the donated playthings will go to Dallas-area kids served by TIF partner charities Captain Hope's Kids, Rainbow Days, Dallas Metro Dream Center, S.M. Wright Foundation, as well as TIF’s national partner, the Boys and Girls Clubs of America Military Services.

Children who are homeless, at-risk, ill, living with a parent in the military, or facing other difficulties benefit year-round from donations made to TIF’s Toy Bank.

“A big thank-you goes out to all of our donors and to our logistics partner, Kids in Distressed Situations,” added Sorvillo. “We would like to remind industry stakeholders that they can donate year-round by visiting our website. Every toy counts!”
