Holiday Toy Distribution Honors Young Heroes
On December 15, 2009 representatives from the Toy Industry Foundation
(TIF) and Boys and Girls Clubs of America (BCGA) traveled to Walter Reed
Medical Center in Washington D.C. for a special Toy Bank distribution to
salute the young heroes of our military families. More than 750
toys were distributed to deserving servicemen and women — many of
whom have served multiple tours of duty — and their families. TIF
and TIA staff joined soldiers from the Warrior Transition Brigade for
holiday refreshments, carols and a visit from Santa!
The event kicked-off TIF’s new, national partnership with the
BCGA. The initiative, known as Play Comforts, will allow our industry to
provide toys through TIF’s Toy Bank to members of Boys & Girls
Clubs located on military bases all across the country with high
deployment rates.
TIF would like to give special thanks to Cadaco, Every Baby Company,
LLC, Hasbro, JAKKS Pacific, Inc., LEGO Systems, Inc and Little Kids,
Inc. for helping to spread holiday cheer through their generous donation
of toys for this event.
