An exciting few months lie ahead as the toy industry prepares for the
2013 Toy of the Year (TOTY) Awards!
- From mid-September through Friday, October 12th, members of the toy
industry are invited
to nominate toys, games, licensed properties – and for the
very first time, e-Connected playthings – for consideration in the
2013 Toy of the Year awards.
- From late October through early November, nomination committees
comprised of play experts, journalists, academics, retailers, and other
toy experts for each category will consider which products and
properties will be selected for the official TOTY ballots.
- On November 19th, a national press conference held in the heart of
New York City will introduce a fantastic list of product recommendations
just in time for the Holiday 2012 shopping season. The press conference
will also mark the launch of FIVE ballots – one each for
Consumers, Retailers (mass and specialty), Media, and TIA members; each
ballot will factor into the determination of the TOTY 2013 winners.
- And on Saturday evening, February 9th, “Toy Fair Week”
will kick off with the TOTY awards ceremony and Toy Industry Hall of
Fame induction at a beautiful and iconic New York City landmark, The
Plaza Hotel.
