TIA Shares Toy Safety and Trend Tips for the Holidays at NYC
October 19, 2011 | The Toy Industry Association
(TIA) participated in a New York City blogger event hosted by MomTrends on
October 18th. During the “Glamorous Entertaining” evening,
about 30 bloggers received tips on throwing dinner parties in
“style,” as well as information from TIA experts about toy
safety and trends for the upcoming holiday shopping season.
TIA’s Joan Lawrence, vice president of safety and government
affairs and Adrienne Appell, senior manager of public relations were on
hand to present the “top 10 tips of toy safety” as well as
key shopping tips and trends – from affordable to active toys
– that are sure to be on every child’s wish list.
“The ‘Glamorous Entertaining’ event was the perfect
opportunity for us to connect with influential bloggers as they’re
gearing up for the holidays,” said Appell. “It also
allowed us to share information about TIA and all of our activities,
including the 12th Annual Toy of the Year Awards
(TOTY) and Toy Fair.”
TIA extended an invite to the bloggers to attend the TOTY national
press conference on November 21st, which will announce the nominees in
11 product categories, as well as the two newest inductees into
the esteemed Toy Industry Hall of Fame. The press conference will
also mark the opening of TIA’s consumer voting website, ToyAwards.org,
where consumers will be able to vote for their TOTY picks between Nov.
21st and mid-January.
TIA participates in relevant blogger events year-round. By
building and strengthening relationships with bloggers who write about
parenting, children, toys and other lifestyle topics, TIA is able to
promote the Association’s messages about safe and fun play.
