Safety Standards

For more than 30 years, the toy industry has worked in an ongoing partnership with parents, government officials, health and safety professionals and technical experts to ensure that our safety assurance programs incorporate the latest child development research, product and manufacturing innovations, science and risk assessment techniques.

International

For a comprehensive listing of toy safety standards used around the world, please visit the International Council of Toy Industries (ICTI) website.

U.S. Domestic

U.S. toy safety standards and regulations are among the most stringent in the world and provide the model for many of the rules in other countries.  All toys sold in the United States, regardless of where they are made, must be tested to verify compliance with rigorous U.S. toy safety requirements.  These standards are shaped by a variety of considerations, including research on child development, dynamic safety testing, and risk analysis.
